How to Make Hoisin Salmon Cakes in Your Air Fryer

These salmon cakes are inexpensive, easy, and incredibly tasty. You need only minutes to mix the cakes up, and they cook in 10-15 minutes in your air fryer. That gives you time to cook a pot of rice and steam some broccoli in your microwave, so you can have dinner on the table in 30 minutes (maybe even sooner). You make the cakes with canned salmon, which cuts down on preparation time as well as expense. Onions, carrots, and ginger add plenty of flavor to the salmon cakes, and you use hoisin sauce in the cakes as well as in a sauce to top them. The salmon cakes come out of the air fryer crisp, brown, and crunchy on the outsides and soft and moist in the interiors. Enjoy!

How to Make Quick Hoisin Salmon Cakes in Your Air Fryer

Hoisin Salmon Cakes -- Makes 6

3/4 cup of chopped onions

1/4 cup of shredded carrots

1 tablespoon of water

2 - 3 pieces of stale bread

1 tablespoon of fresh ground ginger (the kind from the squeeze bottle if fine)

2 - 3 tablespoons of hoisin sauce

1/4 cup of orange juice

3 - 4 tablespoons of chopped green onions, divided

1 large egg

14 - 16-ounce can of salmon (pink, etc.)

Hoisin sauce topping (see below)

Combine the onions, carrots, and water in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave them for 2 minutes or until they soften and are steaming a bit. Stir in the bread, ginger, hoisin sauce, orange juice, and half the green onions. Stir in the egg and salmon until well combined. Cut 2 pieces of aluminum foil large enough to fit inside your air fryer basket and about half-way up its sides. Spritz the foil with non-stick cooking spray. Put one piece of foil in the air fryer basket. Form six patties with the salmon mixture (use a 1/4-cup measure to easily form the patties) and place three or four of the patties on the foil in your air fryer basket and the remaining patties on the second piece of foil, spacing the patties at least 1/2-inch apart. Spray the tops of the patties with non-stick spray and put the basket in the air fryer. Air fry the salmon cakes at 360 degrees for 10 minutes. Spoon some of the hoisin sauce topping (a spoonful or so) over each patty and return the basket to the air fryer for another 5 minutes or until the salmon cakes are brown and the sauce is bubbling a bit. Remove the salmon cakes and their foil from the air fryer basket and put the remaining salmon-cake-topped piece of foil in the air fryer basket to cook as you did the first batch. Serve the salmon cakes with the remaining hoisin sauce topping and sprinkled with the remaining green onions.

Hoisin Sauce Topping

1/4 cup of orange juice

2 - 3 tablespoons of hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon of fresh grated/ground ginger (from the squeeze bottle is fine)

Mix the topping ingredients well and use the mixture over the salmon patties. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top of the hoisin sauce topping.
