Almost Instant Appetizers: Air Fryer Goat Cheese and Honey Tarts
These little Goat Cheese and Honey Tarts take minutes to throw together, and they are incredibly good! The tarts will help keep the "hungries" at bay if you need a quick appetizer, and the tarts also are great alongside a simple salad. You won't need many ingredients for the tarts, and a child could easily make the appetizers. The goat cheese in the tarts is warm and soft, and thyme brings a great herbal note to the cheese. The honey provides a sweet note to the savory appetizer, making the tarts addictive! Although I usually make the tarts in the air fryer, feel free to bake them in a regular oven at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!
Air Fryer Goat Cheese and Honey Tarts -- Makes 16
1 can of extra large or "grand" type layered biscuits (8 biscuits)
4 ounces of crumbled goat cheese (plain, not flavored)
1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme or about a teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves
2 tablespoons (or so) of honey
Separate the biscuits in half, horizontally, to make 16 layers. Squash the layers out a little with your palm to flatten them out to about 1/4-1/3-inch thick. Divide the goat cheese among the biscuits, topping the biscuits with the goat cheese crumbles. Use your palm, again, to press the goat cheese into the biscuits. Sprinkle the thyme evenly over the goat cheese on the biscuits. Put three or four biscuits into your air fryer basket, put the basket in the air fryer, and air fry the biscuits at 350 degrees for about seven minutes or until golden brown. Remove the cooked biscuits (now tarts!) from the air fryer basket and repeat the cooking process with the remaining uncooked biscuits. Drizzle the cooked, warm tarts with some of the honey, and serve the tarts warm with napkins. When the remaining batches of tarts emerge from the air fryer basket, make sure to drizzle them with honey, too. Yum!
