What to Make When You Don't Have Time or Don't Want to Cook? Dressed Up Air Fryer Pigs in Blankets

Everyone has days when they just don't have the time or inclination to cook. It's okay, I've decided, to opt for convenience items on those days, so I keep some on hand, just in case. One favorite option I generally have on hand are chicken sausages, and this recipe relies on those as the key ingredient. Dressed Up Air Fryer Pigs in Blankets cook in about 10 minutes and actually are quite good! I use Italian or sun-dried tomato chicken sausages, add a little cheese before rolling them up, and dust the tops of the "blankets" with Parmesan and Italian herbs (use Tuscan seasoning if you want a bit more heat). You can serve the fancy pigs "as is" or with tomato sauce alongside or for dipping. Good, cheap, and quick! Enjoy!

Air Fryer Dressed Up Pigs in Blankets -- Makes 5-6

1 package (12-16 ounces) of fully cooked Italian of sun-dried tomato chicken (or turkey) sausage (I usually use Lidl's or Aldi's brand, both of which are good and cheap)

1 can of 8 crescent rolls (you'll have some left over)

1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella or Italian-style cheese

1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon of dried Italian herbs or Tuscan seasoning

1 8-ounce can of tomato sauce

Line the inside of your air fryer basket with aluminum foil, letting the foil extend about half-way up the sides of the basket. Spritz the foil with non-stick cooking spray. Separate out the crescent rolls (you'll have 2-3 extra, which you can cook in the air fryer and eat later). Depending on how many sausages are in your package (usually 5-6), sprinkle 5-6 flattened crescent rolls evenly with the shredded cheese and lightly press the cheese into the dough. Put a sausage on the largest side of a dough triangle and roll up the sausage in the dough. Put the rolled "pig" in the prepared air fryer basket and repeat the rolling with the remaining sausages and crescent rolls, placing all the rolled "pigs" in the air fryer basket, not touching, if possible. Sprinkle the tops of the rolls with the grated Parmesan and dried Italian herbs. Spritz the tops of the sprinkled rolls with non-stick cooking spray. Put the "pig" filled air fryer basket in the air fryer, set the temperature to 350 degrees and air fry the pigs in blankets for about 10 minutes or until the sausages are hot and the rolls are a deep brown. Carefully lift the "pigs" out of the air fryer basket using the foil as a sling. Let the "pigs" cool a few minutes before serving them plain or with tomato sauce (warm the sauce in a cup in the microwave).
