How to Make Simple Chocolate Chip Cookies in Your Air Fryer

Sometimes simple is best, and that's the case with these chocolate chip cookies. No weird, hard to find ingredients. No gimmicks. Not a horrendous amount of fat. Chocolate chips. Nuts if you want--or not. The cookies take minutes to mix up and cook in your air fryer in about 10 minutes. You get nice fresh hot cookies that are a little crispy on the edges, soft and squishy in the interiors, and full of sweet, melting chocolate chips. I usually add the walnuts, because I like them. The contrast of the crunchy, slightly bitter walnuts is great against the sweet chocolate. Nonetheless, if you're a nut hater, don't include them (obviously). The recipe will work with or without nuts. Don't want to bake the whole batch of cookies? Not a problem. Wrap the remainder of the dough well and refrigerate it so you can have fresh baked cookies later in the week. Just bake the cold dough a minute or two longer. Enjoy!

Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies -- Makes 12+

2 tablespoons of melted butter

2 tablespoons of canola oil

2 tablespoons of dark brown sugar

2 tablespoons of sugar

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

1/8 teaspoon of salt

3/4 cup of flour

1/4 teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon of baking soda

1/4 cup of quick oats

1/2 cup of chopped or broken walnuts

1/2 cup of chocolate chips (whatever type you like best)

In a medium bowl or measure combine the butter, oil, sugars, egg, vanilla, and salt well. Stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and oats until blended. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Cover the dough loosely with plastic wrap and let it sit for an hour or so if possible. If you're desperate for cookies, never mind the standing time, but the cookies will taste better if you let the dough rest. While the dough is snoozing, cut sheets of baking parchment just large enough to fit in your air fryer basket. When you're ready to bake, drop several 1 1/2 tablespoon scoops of dough on each piece of parchment, placing the dough mounds at least an inch apart. Flatten the dough mounds a little with your fingers (so they're about 1/2-1-inch thick and won't roll on your parchment). Put a dough-topped parchment sheet into your air fryer basket, put the basket into the air fryer, and bake the cookies at 320 degrees for about 10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the air fryer basket to cool and repeat the cooking process with the remaining dough or bake as many cookies as you like and refrigerate the remaining dough--well wrapped in plastic--to bake later in the week.
