How to Make Quick Air Fryer Salmon With a Mustard Crust

This salmon recipe is a simple, quick, and delicious way to get your "heart healthy" salmon. The recipe requires no hard-to-find ingredients, and you can mix it up in minutes. The salmon cooks in the air fryer in about 15 minutes, and it comes out moist and with a crust that's full of flavor. A little Dijon mustard combines with garlic, herbs, and wine to flavor the salmon. If you'd like, you can also use the mustard topping on some crunchy potatoes to accompany the fish. I'll post the recipe and photos below. This is a quick dish, and it's great for when you're in a hurry and want something that's still special and delicious. Enjoy!

Air Fryer Salmon With a Mustard Crust -- Serves 2

1/2 - 3/4 pound of salmon fillets

1 tablespoon of chopped garlic

1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon of grainy mustard

1 tablespoon of white wine

1 teaspoon of low sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1/4 teaspoon of pepper

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/4 teaspoon of onion powder

1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning (or use herbes de Provence)

Cut two pieces of aluminum foil and fold them to fit in your air fryer basket and an inch or two up the sides. You want to overlap the pieces a little so that they form a sling for you to put the salmon into the basket and lift it out when it's done. Spritz the foil with non-stick cooking spray. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels and trim it, if necessary. If you have the end piece of the fish (kind of triangular shaped) rather than evenly cut slices, cut the piece in half up the center of the fish into two pieces (use kitchen shears for easier cutting). Lay the pieces on the foil, placing the thick pieces to the sides, thin pieces toward the middle. In a cup or small bowl, combine the garlic, Dijon, wine, soy sauce, oil, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Spoon the mixture evenly over each piece of fish. Let the fish sit for 15 minutes, if possible. If not, put the fish-topped foil in the air fryer basket, put the basket in the air fryer, and air fry the salmon for 13-18 minutes at 360 degrees or until it has cooked as you like it. We like our fish cooked, not slightly rare in the middle, so I usually cook our fish about 16 minutes, and it comes out nicely moist. Let the fish sit a few minutes, then lift the fish on it's foil from the air fryer using the ends of the foil and being careful not to touch the edges of the still hot air fryer basket. If you'd like, double the mustard mixture and serve the fish with mustard-sauce-drizzled crispy potatoes--the recipe is posted below the next photo.

Air Fryer Crispy Potatoes -- Serves 2+

2 medium-large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes

1/4 cup of water

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1/4 teaspoon of onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Put the potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl and add the water. Microwave the potatoes on high for about 8 minutes or until they are cooked but still a little firm. Drain the potatoes and drizzle them with the oil. Sprinkle on the onion powder, salt, and pepper, and stir the potatoes. Spritz a piece of aluminum foil with non-stick cooking spray and place the foil in the bottom of your air fryer basket, extending up the sides of the basket for an inch or two. Put the potatoes on the foil, put the basket in the air fryer, and air fry the potatoes at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until crispy brown. Mid-way through the cooking process, you can turn the potatoes and drizzle the potatoes with a little of the mustard mixture or just drizzle the potatoes with the mixture after you've air fried them.
